Kia was founded in 1944 as Kyungsung Precision Industry, where they manufactured steel tubing and bicycle parts. In 1952 they renamed to Kia Industries. In 1974 they released their first passenger car the Brisa based on a Mazda design. In 1980 they expanded car production and began exporting vehicles to Japan and American automakers. In 1998 Hyundai Motor Company acquired a 51% stake in Kia, forming the Hyundai Motor Group. A few of the vehicles Kia offers are the,Kia Soul,Optima (K5), Sorento, and the Telluride.
